Senior Lead Financial Reporting | Tygervalley or Sandton

The successful candidate will act as the Senior Lead for the financial reporting function in the SanlamAllianz Life Finance Team and will report to the SanlamAllianz Life Head of Finance.

The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal and stakeholder relationship management skills at all levels in the organisation. Key responsibilities will include:
Financial Reporting
- Oversee monthly financial reporting and consolidation of subsidiaries/associates, ensuring compliance with IFRS and company policies.
- Manage the month-end close process and collaborate with the actuarial team for accurate financial reports.
- Analyse financial performance and assist with planning, forecasting, and budgeting.
- Ensure adoption and adherence to financial reporting standards across the group.
- Support business combinations, statutory reporting, and audits, while guiding internal and external audit processes.
- Coordinate onboarding of new entities and handle ad-hoc financial reporting tasks.
- Balance sheet reviews of subsidiaries and associates to identify areas of optimisation and areas of risk and control weakness.
- Advise on effective internal controls and systems to ensure the achievement of objectives relating to operations, reporting and compliance.
- Ongoing review of existing processes to identify and deliver on improvement plans.
Training and Digitisation
- Develop and facilitate training programmes for the central finance/actuarial teams as well as in-country training of finance teams.
- Collaborate with SanlamAllianz Life management and the management of portfolio businesses for advice on the financial implications of business activities.
- Supervise the SanlamAllianz Life finance team to ensure delivery of team responsibilities and objectives and assist with the training and mentoring of finance team members.
- Embrace technology and innovation in building a SanlamAllianz Life finance environment for the future.
People Leadership and Management
- Provide leadership and direction to the relevant central and in-country stakeholders, teams and role players.
- Lead by example in demonstrating the organisation’s desired values and culture.
Qualification and Experience
- CA (SA) with at least 6 years post articles experience
- Experience within the life insurance industry with strong understanding of IFRS17
- Experience in successfully leading a team
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong financial reporting and accounting skills
- Insightful at analytical review, results analysis and results commentary
- Experience in implementation of financial systems an advantage
- Understanding of systems and how these impact on the business
- Demonstrable skills in successfully leading and influencing people
- Ability to speak French is an advantage but not a requirement
